Brief Biography

HELO is part of the undergraduate course at the University of Huddersfield which exists to explore laptop based performance practice in a variety of settings. HELO has no fixed ethos to either tools or strategies and instead looks to explore methods specific to its players and circumstance.

The InclusiveImprov collective is an improvisation group that performs free improvised music for fun. With a leaning towards experimental music, techniques and instruments the InclusiveImprov organises regular open improvisation performance and is constantly looking for new challenges.

Program Note

Todays improvisation is the result of a series of experiments between the InclusiveImprov and the Huddersfield Experimental laptop Orchestra. Working within each players experience the group will look to explore the relationship between acoustic and laptop based instruments and the dynamic interactions that can form within an improvisation. Over the course of the performance the roles of the various players will shift from source to process to control allowing each player to equally determine the progression of the improvisation.

You can download the netmixer here.
or here <- zip contains all necessary abstractions

Please install and check that it works ahead of time, any problems see Scott H.

Please feel free to use any software you like to process the sounds you receive.

While considering the processing you may use may I suggest that a delay line is a great way to mitigate most feedback issues.
